Tage 3 (finale): Patton !!!

Patton: A Salute to a Rebel (1970, Franklin J. Schaffner), sau Patton: Lust for Glory ! (titul englez). Unul din filmele mele preferate de razboi (si biografice, generalul George S. Patton jr. poreclit si "Blood and Guts"), dar niciodata vazut asa ! mare cit casa ! Sunetul napraznic ! Copia de parca e facut Miine !!! 170 de minute (cu intermission in care m-am dus sa-mi iau un Krobacher !)
La finalul speechului introductiv de sub casca lui George C. Scott curge un fir de sudoare (never seen this before !!!)

Figurantii spanioli, detaliile, culorile ! Doua gaini care nimeresc sub senilele unui tanc ! nici nu vreau sa ma gindesc la caii si animalele ucise in timpul filmarilor ! Peisajul de dupa batalia de la trecatoarea Kasserine, cartierul general german din Berlin cu Jodl (see it im Berlin !!), plecarea lui Rommel cu avionul (scena parca refacuta in opening Valkyrie cu Hitler care viziteaza frontul de est), palmuirea soldatului, replicile brici scrise de Francis Coppola si Edmund North !
Imaginea lui Fred Koenekamp ! Trompeta si tobele lui Jerry Goldsmith !

Patton:
Men, all this stuff you've heard about America not wanting to fight, wanting to stay out of the war, is a lot of horse dung. Americans traditionally love to fight. All real Americans love the sting of battle. When you were kids, you all admired the champion marble shooter, the fastest runner, big league ball players, the toughest boxers. Americans love a winner and will not tolerate a loser. Americans play to win all the time. I wouldn't give a hoot in hell for a man who lost and laughed. That's why Americans have never lost, and will never lose a war... because the very thought of losing is hateful to Americans.
